Skiing near Linz
Linz being a city is by nature not a skiing destination. However Linz is situated within an hour of the Salzkammergut as well as near the Hills of the Muehlviertel. There are a number of relatively good ski resorts within 1 - 2 hours drive from Linz. Although most of the ski resorts near Linz are not very well known and are not as challenging as many of the top Austrian ski resports they can be a great alternative for families skiing with kids as well as beginners. There are usually a range of ski courses available. An added benefit is that prices, including hotels, ski lifts and ski rentals are usually below many Austrian well known ski resorts.
